Proper surface prep is critical to product performance. The surface should be clean, dry, and free of dirt, dust, wax and grease. You may need an oil stain remover to lift stubborn oil stains.
Bare Concrete - New concrete must have cured for a minimum of 30 days before any application. Etching is especially important for smooth-troweled concrete surfaces such as garage or basement floors. A heavier etch such as Seal-Krete Clean-n-Etch or mechanical etcher may be needed. After etching, rinse the surface thoroughly and let dry. To improve adhesion, the surface can be coated with Seal-Krete Lock-Down bonding primer.
Sealed, Stained or Painted Concrete - Remove loose or peeling paint and degloss surface by sanding. Next clean surface with general cleaner (TSP) and rinse thoroughly. Let surface dry and then coat with Seal-Krete Lock-Down bonding primer.
